Welcome back to Rhode Island and to the 59th New

England Square and Round Dance Convention (NESRDC)!

Welcome all to the New Year, 2017.  We are excited to be hosting the New England Square and Round Dance Convention (NESRDC) again this year.  We had a great time at our kickoff in Wrentham, Massachusetts this past October with over 9 squares in attendance.  We want to thank All of you for your continued support and in helping to make YOUR convention a GREAT one!

With that said, let us update you on the current convention weekend for April 28 - 29, 2017.  By popular demand, we have rehired the 8 Mile River Band for more live music on Saturday night following the Celebrity hour. We have moved them to the bigger hall this year for this event and for your Mainstream dancing pleasure.

We still have a few spots left for the trolley tour through Newport and a self-guided tour of the most visited mansion in RI, "The Breakers".  Weather permitting, they may stop the tour along the way to dance along the way.  This tour will leave from the Hotel on Friday morning and return at approximately 4-5 in the afternoon.  There are a limited number of seats available and you must already be registered for the convention.

We held the drawing for the free room nights at the Crowne Plaza.  Michael & Frances Griffin are the recipients of this prize and have been notified. CONGRATULATIONS Mike and Frances Griffin. We thank all the dancers for your continued support and early registration.

We will not have an “all phase round dance party” on Friday as we have held in the past year but will be adding several INTRO TO time slots (A1, Hex, etc).  We are scheduling a DBD session on Friday and on Saturday this year. We are planning on having the black light dance again on FRIDAY NIGHT at 7 PM when dancing resumes for the evening.  Dancing will begin at 10 am on both Friday and Saturday Morning.  Challenge dancing will be moved out of the Advanced hall (which will be used for A1 and A2 dancing and a few special events).  We are working hard to provide you with a great dance program again this year.

Since it had been 30 years since the convention was held in RI, this may be your last chance to experience the fun here.  We look forward to seeing you all one last time in RI.  "Anchors Away With a Half Sashay" to Warwick RI in 2017.  See you in a square!
